Warm Ups. Remember! NO fins, paddles or snorkels. 1. No diving off blocks or pool deck. Enter pool feet first. 2. Circle swim during warm-ups. It's like driving a car. Swim to the right of the lane line; pass in the middle. Try to find a lane with swimmers whose speed is comparable with yours. 3. At 12:30, one lane will be open to one-ways sprints ONLY. Swimmers may go off the starting block in the sprint lane.
Meet Procedures. 1. Heat and lane assignments will be posted in the pool area before the event. Swimmers need to know their event #, heat # and lane assignment. 2. When your event is called, all heats report behind the starting blocks. Line up at your lane in the heat order (there is very little time between heats, so you have to pay attention as it moves quickly). 3. The starter will direct the heat to step up onto the blocks. Wait for the starter. Swimmers can start in the water or on the pool deck, if they wish. 4. For backstroke events, or anyone who plans to start any race in the water with a wall push-off, wait for the starter to give the OK to get back into the pool. Those entrances should be feet-first from the pool deck. 5. At the end of your race, stay in your lane until the starter tells you to exit the pool.
